WORDS OF INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION

"Regardless of whether social-emotional development and challenging behavior is addressed in a single course or across courses, personnel preparation programs should ensure that they have a conceptual framework that links promotion and prevention efforts and includes strategies for addressing the needs of young children with the most persistent challenging behavior". Santos

"To work effectively with children and families of diverse backgrounds, we must also find or adapt materials to ensure that the content respects, reflects, and includes the values, beliefs, and customs of the children and families who are receiving them". Santos, Fowler, Corso, & Bruns

"Opportunity, equality, and individual effort are the mantras of American educational mythology". Aisha Ray

"In the face of the complexity of children’s developmental and educational needs teachers, especially if not effectively prepared, may retreat to practices that simply ‘celebrate’ differences, but does not know how to address children’s actual differences as they are expressed in teaching and learning processes". Aisha Ray, Bowan

"Preschool years are critical the first most fundamental period when children are in fact noticing who they are noticing the attitudes and discomforts".Louise Derman-Sparks

"We as professionals in the early childhood field have an opportunity to shape a child's life for the better, and so that's what makes me passionate about this field". Sandy Escobido

My Personal Childhood Web

I can truly say that I felt loved when I was growing up. I will describe the different family members that influenced my life. They each had their own way of showing me love and I truly loved each one of them. Though most of them are no longer with us they have left an lasting impression on my heart.

My mom (Mary) has always been my biggest supporter. She would always inspire me to reach for the stars. Growing up, I was a tom boy I always wanted to play football with the boys. My mom would always tell me not to but I would any way. I remember getting my leg broke for the second time playing football. I really scared my mom but she was right there holding me and telling me she loved me. She was my rock on one of the most important days of my life my wedding day. She kept me calm as I prepared to marry my prince charming almost 22 years ago. She is very supportive of me and my family. She will always be here for me and I love her dearly.

I can attribute one of my favorite hobbies which is fishing to my daddy (Cleve). I remember getting up early on Saturday morning packing lunch to go on the boat. We would leave the house around 5:00 a.m. and not return until late that evening. My dad always made me feel very special. He would tell me to make sure I did good in school and to focus. We would go to church and pray as a family. My dad was there beside me on my special day to walk me down the isle. I can still remember shaking as we walked down the isle. Thanks daddy I love you.

I always remembered wanting to go to my Grandma (Berta) house to play. She always had something special for us to eat like homemade cake. My grandma always treated my like a little princess. She was so pretty and had beautiful long hair. I really miss my grandma and want her to be proud of who I am. Therefore, I am always striving for perfection.

My Aunt Bess had a big family of her own but she never let that stop her from showing me love.  I remember on Sundays after church we all went to Aunt Bess house for dinner.  The kids had their own table to eat at with a little something special just for us. She would hug and kiss me before I left to go home.  I learned from Aunt Bess no matter how big your family is there is always room to show someone else love.

My granddaddy Eli lived in another state but we would visit him on the weekends. I remember he would say come and give me a big hug. You sure are getting big then he would let me go in the back yard to pick pecans.  Even  though I did not see him everyday I knew he love me and I loved him.

Green Eggs and Ham

This is one of my favorite children books. I love reading Dr. Seuss books because they rhymed and the characters in the books were so unusual looking. I would repeat the words over and over until I memorized the page.
